COUNSELING MINISTRY LEADERSHIP

Scott Stubbert

Pastor of Recovery & Counseling

MODESTO COUNSELING

Our counseling is designed to provide encouragement, insight and biblical guidance during times of crisis, change, personal and family difficulties. Our lay counselors will listen and help clarify, offering hope, prayer and sound biblical advice. We recognize that everyone is going through something, so we want to be a resource to serve others like Jesus.

OUR LAY COUNSELING TEAM

COUNSELING

Lay Counseling

To help all those who are broken and hurting find truth and healthy relationships through the power of Jesus Christ. Our lay counselors will listen and help clarify, offering hope, encouragement, prayer, and sound biblical advice. We are not mental health care and should not be substituted for professional therapy or counseling. We typically see individuals for six to eight sessions. If this is an emergency or a matter of life and death, please call 911 immediately. If you need to speak with a pastor, call (209) 577-1604 and ask to speak with the Pastor on Duty.

Premarital Counseling

You’re thinking about getting married. This is an exciting time in your life! We believe in God’s plan for marriage, which is why we use God’s Word as our instruction book as we help prepare you for marriage! We strongly recommend that you enroll in Premarital Mentoring before you get engaged or set a date! However, if that doesn’t happen, our next suggestion is that you enroll in premarital mentoring at least 6 months before your wedding date.

Divorce Questionnaire

This questionnaire is to be completed if either spouse has been divorced.

Widow Questionnaire

This questionnaire is to be completed if either spouse is a widow.

Sessions:

8 sessions, each lasting 2-2 1/2 hours

Attendance is mandatory

Sessions are taught by our Premarital Mentor couples

Mentors will be assigned once the application process is complete

Mentoring is open to all engaged or pre-engaged couples who are seeking to have a biblically based marriage.

It is strongly recommended that your wedding date does NOT fall within 3 months after the last session.

There will be a $100 enrollment fee, which can be paid electronically by clicking the link at the end of the application.

Policy

All couples must comply with the following policy in order to be married at Big Valley Grace Community Church or to have a Big Valley Grace pastor officiate your wedding off-site:

Complete the Premarital Mentoring sessions (approx. 8 sessions) and take a relationship assessment.

Couples must be legally divorced from prior marriages, based on biblical grounds (See Matthew 5:30-31 and I Corinthians 7).

Couples must be equally yoked (See II Corinthians 6:14)

Couples must abstain from premarital sex or cohabitation during the courting process and sign a Purity Covenant (See I Thessalonians 4:3-8, I Corinthians 6:18-20, Acts 24:16)

(Not complying with these recommendations will not disqualify you from premarital mentoring, but may disqualify you from being married at BVG and from having a Big Valley Grace Community Church pastor officiate your wedding.)

Weddings at Big Valley Grace Community Church

In order to have your wedding at Big Valley Grace Community Church you must be a current and active member of Big Valley Grace. You must have completed Premarital Counseling and remain abstinent until marriage. If you meet the requirements, please complete the wedding application and we will be in touch with you with further details.

For questions regarding weddings, please contact Kaitlynn Fisher at (209) 577-1604 or [email protected].
